Jiu-Jitsu Street Combatives / Self Defense - (Katamejitsu)

Our self defense is based on the various techniques William has studied over the last thirty years, including Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aiki-Jitsu, Judo, and Kenpo Karate. William has named this system Katamejitsu which means "grappling art". emphasize blocks to strikes, followed with locks or throws, and ended with ground fighting when necessary. This is a thoroughly complete system of self defense with no unrealistic approaches to training. William believes if your technique cannot be practiced realistically or effectively it is useless. It’s like holding the basketball and visualizing the shot without ever throwing the ball. When time is short, you will never make the shot.

With the techniques you will practice at ABQ BJJ, you will develop true confidence in your abilities by consistently applying your technique on an opponent in a realistic training environment. Only then when you have developed reflex and muscle memory mechanics can you call on your skills to defend yourself.
